A Little About Me

Welcome to my Homepage. My name is Melanie. I am 41 years young, who is trying to figure this thing out. I would like to have a homepage that knocks people off their feet ! We will see how this turns out. I am a paramedic in the state of Michigan, and enjoy my work very much. I have been in the medical profession for 12 years and seen many changes. I am divorced, and own one son (I think he feels this is the other way around tho). I enjoy playing on this computer, having made alot of friends thru ICQ and in some chat rooms. Hey I have even meet some of these people and find that they are as great in person as they are here. My life has been turned upside down in the last 3 years with many changes in my life, but I have dealt with the perils of Melanie and I am standing on two feet again and smiling.

No Monkey Business; PBC is real and needs to be known !!!

PBC (Primary Biliary Cirrohsis) How many of you are thinking " This has to be alcohol related, because the word cirrohsis is in the diagnosis" ? Well, alcohol is not a factor in this disease at all :C) PBC is a rare liver disease that effects mostly women. Walter Payton has PSC, PBC is the sister disease to PSC. The only real difference is that PBC effects mostly woman, and PSC effects mostly men. There is no cure for either disease and there is no known reason we get it. Of course there is speculations, but no real reason has been found. Our only hope is to have a transplant someday down the road.
